In December we were really pleased to welcome Tugun District Girl Guides into the family! Through our Grass Roots Community Sponsorship Program we donated $1000 which will purchase new shirts and hats for all 50+ members and the adults that volunteer each week. Any left over funds will be contributed to their ‘new roof’ fund.
Operating under the banner of Girl Guides Queensland, Tugun Girl Guides are part of the largest youth organisation for girls and women in the world, with almost 3,000 Youth Members and 1,000 volunteer Leaders and Adult Members in Queensland alone.
They provide a non-formal educational program designed to create leaders of tomorrow, by building on individual strengths and personal skills development.
The Guide Program is flexible and is designed to suit each individual youth and adult member’s goals and skills. They are an organisation that welcomes and actively seeks members from all racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic groups.
Girl Guiding is facilitated by trained volunteers across all states in Australia. With a program that is girl-led and designed to encourage girls and women to be the change in their world.
We are so pleased to be part of their journey and look forward to sharing with you their new uniforms when they arrive!
